Prof. Inoue’s research paper “Hot-spot analysis of Covid-19 infection using mobile-phone location data”, (co-authored with Yu Kimura, Tatsunori Seki, Satoshi Miyata, Yusuke Arai, Toshiki Murata, Hiroyasu Inoue, and Nobuyasu Ito) was selected for the Best Paper Award at an international symposium, the Artificial Life and Robotics 2022.
Prof. Inoue made two presentations at an international symposium, Artificial Life and Robotics 2022.
One is on a research paper “Hot-spot analysis of Covid-19 infection using mobile-phone location data”. (Co-authored with Yu Kimura, Tatsunori Seki, Satoshi Miyata, Yusuke Arai, Toshiki Murata, Hiroyasu Inoue, and Nobuyasu Ito)
The other presentation was made on “Toward a simulation of business-establishment supply chains”. (Single authored)
The symposium was held online, but the two presentations were well-received and spurred lively discussions.
Prof. Inoue gave an invited lecture at the Institute for Policy Science, University of Hyogo.
The topic was “Economic Simulation of COVID-19 Disaster Based on Large-Scale Data”.
Prof. Inoue explained why the social and economic simulations were interesting and talked about their importance to the general audience, especially students. If you are interested, please watch the video of Prof. Inoue’s lecture.
Prof. Inoue paid a courtesy visit to Minister Suematsu, Minister of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology. During the visit, the 10 researchers chosen for the 2021 NISTEP had a passionate long discussion on Japan’s policy in the field of science and technology with Minister Suematsu. The discussion was followed by an awarding ceremony for the 10 researchers.
Prof. Inoue was selected for the title of “NISTEP Researchers 2021” by the National Institute of Science and Technology Policy (NISTEP). Established in 1988 as MEXT’s research institute to engage in the Japanese government’s science and technology policy planning process, NISTEP has been awarding 10 researchers who made an outstanding contribution to the advancement in science and technology since 2005. Prof. Shinya Yamanaka and Prof. Hiroshi Amano, the Nobel Prize winners, are among the previous awardees.

Hiroyasu Inoue gave a presentation at the November meeting of the Harima Industry–Academia Exchange group. His talk discussed estimating the economic effects of COVID-19 through large-scale supply chain simulation.
Hiroyasu Inoue presented at the 68th Annual Meeting of the Japan Society for Urbanology. The presentation analyzed the effects of urban lockdowns in the Kyoto–Osaka–Kobe region using large-scale supply chain simulation.
Hiroyasu Inoue received a FIT Encouragement Award for his presentation at the 20th Forum on Information Technology (FIT2021).
Hiroto Nakagori, a first-year master’s student in our laboratory, received an Outstanding Poster Award at the University of Hyogo’s Knowledge Exchange Symposium 2021.
His presentation used large-scale supply chain simulation to estimate the economic effects of COVID-19, focusing on how infection prevention measures affected individual firms.
